In early morning poe began a journey back to the north.he was going from richmond to baltimore.He had arrived to baltimore and was in gunners hall a baltimore tavern a man had seen him named joseph walker a printer. Poe was waiting for some of his relatives to arrive to leave with him. One of them arrived named henry herring poe's uncle by marriage. Poe was drunk and they sent him to the hospital.Then poe died and they had thought it was alchohol poisoning.

From the sources of "Poes Final Days", I believe that Poe died from alcoholism. The reasons I believe this is because when he was unconscious outside of the bar, he was too drunk to care about the cold wind and the rain. Poe also died of alcohol because he was always hallucinating in the hospital, seeing things that didnt exist on the walls. He also was calling some random persons name loudly.

Scientist had an answer they said that Edgar Allan Poe got rabies from his cat Caterona. With all the evidince i read I' ve choosed the Rabies Death theory Becuase, well just think about it if Edgar Poe died from liquer he wouldnt of have fever. The liver would get all mest up. HE would probility start throwing up blood. These are some of the symptoms that liquer posion may cause. Yeah there is alot of facts that suppport the theory of Poe drinking, but I am going to stick with my theory. Out of reading all of the following argument articles, the article that seems most plausible will be the one of Dr. Benitez. In the passage it says the Edgar Poe did not die of alcohol, but a case of the rabies. It also has alot of information to back it up, saying that he refuses to drink alcohol, because even with water he has a difficult time drinking it! So if Joseph Walker says alcohol was the cauze of it, how can it be if drinking any type of liquid is painful enough for him?
It also makes sense that rabies was the cauze of his death, because at the time Poe did have a pet by the name Caterina. It could have been possible that the cat was a carrier of it, and may have transmitted the disease to Poe, either from some sort of contact of the body of the cat and the human flesh. Not knowing his pet was infected, Poe would have probably done something way earlier to prevent himself from getting rabies. But because there was no cure at the time there was nothing he could have done. If he did know, I know for a fact that he would have got rid of the cat long time ago.

Poe was, in fact, notorious for being raging alchoholic and not "So Sensitive to alchohol that a glass of wine made him ill." He was, as many other great wirters are, a man who drank to alter his Perceptions of this world.Even Many of his literary works show signs of severe alchoholic depression.
I find the idea that he died of rabies to be rather obsurd. That is because, with the exception of his beloved cat, Poe hated most animals and would avoid them at any point possible. Some statements in the rabies articles also provide the reader with falsified information, Making their sources not credible. Dr. Moran, the man who treated Poe before his death, was a temperance advocate, but not until many years after Poe's death. It is believed by many that Moran saw the destruction of one of America's greatest literary giants and decided he would try to stop it from happening again if he could.
Also, other than the testimony of one doctor, and a list of symptoms that fit hundreds,if not thousands of conditions, no real evidence was given that Poe died of rabies. All that was given, was the testimony of doctors who are not even involved in the same field as rabies (Infectous Disease) but instead the man who originated the rabies theory, is a cardiologist! The grounds on which the originator of these theories (The Cardiologist) came to this conclusion is highly questionable. He did not find it in a research hall, nor a hospital lab, nor even just having an epiphony on the crapper. He did it playing a game with a few other doctors. A game listing symptoms of random conditions, and with the initials, locations, and occupations that were all picked at random. I f we were to duplicate this game as an experiment within our class, i bet that we cou8ld find a combination of initials, locations, occupations, and conditions that match those of other people of note. The aditional fact that when describing this game, the doctor used the phrase "Hypothetical Scenarios." For those of you who don't know, Hypothetical means fake, made up, not real, or simply a fictional situation.
