From the sources of "Poes Final Days", I believe that Poe died from alcoholism. The reasons I believe this is because when he was unconscious outside of the bar, he was too drunk to care about the cold wind and the rain. Poe also died of alcohol because he was always hallucinating in the hospital, seeing things that didnt exist on the walls. He also was calling some random persons name loudly.
He was moving his head quietly while saying "Lord help my poor soul", and then he died. All of his relatives would say that even a glass of wine would knock him off of his feet, but a fault of this theory is that everyone also said that he almost never touch a drop of alcohol.
The doctors thought he might of died from rabies but I do not think that is true because they never found any bite marks or animal scratches on his skin. He might have died from rabies because they found him positive for having a certain kind of rabies that affects the brain and making it swell.
He could have died from rabies, or alcohol poisoning. He also might have not died from either, but from the information I got I still believe he had died from alcoholism.
