I think that Edgar Allen Poe died of rabies, not of drinking to much alcohol. Poe didn't like to drink because he knew that alcohol made him very sick. They probably thought that he was drunk because of the way he was acting and the way he looked when they found him.

They thought it was alchohol that killed him becase what he looked like, and the symtoms he had. They came up with the theory that he had gotten so drunk to the point where he couldn't protect himself from the rain and wind. So he got sick and died from brain inflammation.

I think that he died from rabies even though there were no animal bites on him and no evidence of being bit by one. It was not easy to get diagnosed with rabies because sometime it would take a year to show or feel the symtoms and when they does show up some of the people died within a couple of days.

Poe could of gotten bitten along time ago and by the time they found him the wounds had already healed thats why they couldn't find the bites. The symtoms could have barley started showing when they found him, and then a couple days later he died. He could of gotten bit by his cat becase they had no animal vaccine for rabies yet.

There was more evidence th the rabies theory then there was to the alcohol theory. so I think that he died of rabies, but we may never know.
