From the source "Poe's Final Days", it says that on his way back to Baltimore, Poe was seen
dressed strange and was semiconscious. The source says that there's no official evidence of why
of his acting. One week after that trip, Joesph Walker saw Poe in a tavern at Gunner's Hall. It was Election day
when he found Poe. He said that Poe was over drinking and was supposevly ill from exposure
outside.
Poe told Walker about Joseph Evans Snodgrass, who was an editor and a physician who he
went to while he was in Philidalphia. Walker realized he worked as an typesetter in Snodgrasses
Saturday Visitor. Walker sent a note to Snodgrass that Poe needed immediate assistance. When
Snodgrass went to Gunner's Hall, he saw Poe sitting in a armchair with a look of "vacant
stupidity". One of Poe's relatives, Henry Herring, his uncle-in-law, arrived. And on his arrival, he
noticed about Poe's condition. He's a lumber, who married Poe's aunt's sister, spent time with
Poe during his time in Baltimore.
The families realize that Poe was in a insensible state, which suggested the family to send him to
a hospital. In an imposing building, Dr. John J. Moran, a residential physician was the one who
attended to Poe. He had a medical degree from the University of Maryland and he was
only twenty-six. He noticed Poe's identity,"a great man". Himself and a few other medical
students all considered Poe to be " an object of unusual regard".
Poe on Oct. 6, he was delirious, he was resisting from two nurses to stay in his bed.
From moran's explanation, Poe raved all day, and then he was calling out someone. Moran didn't
quite get what he said, he guessed he was calling out Reynolds, a Baltimore family, or his uncle in
law, Henry. Poe continued to call out until 3 on Sunday morning. Then his condition changed.
There isn't an exact report of where Poe died, Moran reported Poe has Expired. Reports say that
he was exposed too much. Another report says that he was bitten by a rat and was considared to
have rabbies. But it is to be said that Poe was too drunk to care about himself and was exposed
to raind and wind and didn't care.
