Kyle Judd English 2 Final Exam
I believe that alchohol poisoning fits the circumstances of Poe's death better than the theory that he died of rabies. Poe was, in fact, notorious for being raging alchoholic and not "So Sensitive to alchohol that a glass of wine made him ill." He was, as many other great wirters are, a man who drank to alter his Perceptions of this world.Even Many of his literary works show signs of severe alchoholic depression.
I find the idea that he died of rabies to be rather obsurd. That is because, with the exception of his beloved cat, Poe hated most animals and would avoid them at any point possible. Some statements in the rabies articles also provide the reader with falsified information, Making their sources not credible. Dr. Moran, the man who treated Poe before his death, was a temperance advocate, but not until many years after Poe's death. It is believed by many that Moran saw the destruction of one of America's greatest literary giants and decided he would try to stop it from happening again if he could.
Also, other than the testimony of one doctor, and a list of symptoms that fit hundreds,if not thousands of conditions, no real evidence was given that Poe died of rabies. All that was given, was the testimony of doctors who are not even involved in the same field as rabies (Infectous Disease) but instead the man who originated the rabies theory, is a cardiologist! (Heart Doctor)
There is only one octor in the article who actually specializes in Rabies treatment.
The grounds on which the originator of these theories (The Cardiologist) came to this conclusion is highly questionable. He did not find it in a research hall, nor a hospital lab, nor even just having an epiphony on the crapper. He did it playing a game with a few other doctors. A game listing symptoms of random conditions, and with the initials, locations, and occupations that were all picked at random. I f we were to duplicate this game as an experiment within our class, i bet that we cou8ld find a combination of initials, locations, occupations, and conditions that match those of other people of note. The aditional fact that when describing this game, the doctor used the phrase "Hypothetical Scenarios." For those of you who don't know, Hypothetical means fake, made up, not real, or simply a fictional situation.
I feel that, seeing as how a well informed High school freshman was able to completely dismantle the arguments supporting rabies as the cause of death that it is safe to say that rabies did NOT cause Poe's death. Given the facts supporting the alchoholism theory and disputing the rabies theory, compined with the discrediting of the information produced by the people that follow the rabies theory, that alchoholism is the logical cause of Poe's death.

Jonathon Truehill Final Essay 3 period
In the early morning of september 27, 9 thursday. When snodgrass arrived at Gunner's hall. Poe had a look of "Vacant Stupidity." Acording to Moran and his wife, Poe reached the hospital in a stupor, unaware of who or bought him there. But he knew the identity of his patient-a "great man "
Final exam-- Jessica
I think that the article that is telling the truth is Poe's Death Is Rewritten as Case of Rabies, Not Telltale Alcohol because he didn't died because he drank some alcohol. He maybe wearing different clothes because he got rubbed. He could of not have any symptoms like he had rabies. He use too drink when he was a boy but he probably got over that. Dr.Benitez is trying to prove that he had rabies.
Dr.Benitez is studying his body so he can prove that he wasn't drunk. He knows that he was not drunk or was drinking any alcohol. He tried to proved it by studying his body for a long time. Poe even refused to drink alcohol instead he drank water. Dr.Benitez says that it can take years to feel the symptoms.
My thought is that he had rabies and he didn't die because alcohol and all the thing I said proves it. Drinking sometimes can kill you but I think it more harmful getting rabies. He had to die of rabies because it said that he left alcohol and started drinking water. There could be a possiblity that he could of died because of alcohol but I still think he died because of rabies. Any person can get it without feeling any type of feelings.

Poe was traveling from Richmond, California to Baltimore, Maryland. Poe was already sick when he left Richmond. He wasn't worried about the cold and wind. Poe couldn't remember if he was bit by a animal that had rabies or not. He was found in the Gunner's Hall in Baltimore, Maryland.
When Poe was found he was driven to the hospital of Washington Medical College, that is set on the highest ground in Baltimore, Maryland. Poe wanted to locate his family. So they called his family. His Uncle by marriage came to the hospital. His Uncle by marriage name is Henry Herring.
Poe Uncle Henry from marriage didn't want to do anything for Poe. Poe Uncle Henry suggested that he goes to another hospital. Poe was always drunk, that's what Henry says. They had a conflict inbetween each other. Poe was not sick from drinking so much.
Poe wanted more of his family to come. They had came to see him. Then only one of two of the Herrings daugthers came. Poe was sick and was dieing. It seemed like no one cared about Poe.

The Odyssey - Final project

In the famous story of “The Odyssey”, originally told by Homer, moral Greek values are often said throughout the story. Values such as Loyalty, Respect, cunning wit. Were very cultural norms. These values were shown in several chapters. Today we face our world’s situations, which support and relate to the same values. Homer’s story still has relevance in today’s modern world.
Loyalty- The story of Calypso, when Odysseus chooses to go home instead of the promise of beautiful women and immortal. He shows Loyalty to his wife by turning down the hottest chick in the world for his love.
Respect your guests and Gods – When Polyphemus starts trying to eat his guests, Odysseus blinds him. The Men eat the Sun god’s cattle, so the god kills them afterwards. Alcinous is kind and generous to Odysseus through out his stay.
Cunning wit – Odysseus does not allow Polyphemus to be killed because he is the only one who can move the rock in front of the door instead he tells polyphemus that his name is “nobody” so when Odysseus and his men are able to escape.

The Odyssey
In the story The Odyssey talks about the ruler of Ithaca named Odysseus. In this story
Odysseus follows the rules of the ancestors where they have values. Some of their values
are respect, loyalty, and trust. To have these values you must follow it. Through
Odysseus’s time he went through so much because he left his newborn son and wife to go
to war for his country. Through the times that he tried to come home he couldn’t.
Through his journey trying to come back home came values. In these values Odysseus
followed it through all the time and wanted people to use it too.
One of the values is Respect. Either to gain respect from others you must show respect to
them. In the story with "Cyclops/Polyphemus" he did not show Odysseus and his men some
respect. He tried to eat them. In a good way to show respect to somebody is in the story
with "King Alcinous" when Odysseus was at his land they gave Odysseus and his men all
their respect by being nice and offering stuff to them, also making them fell like it is their home
too. This is the value that Odysseus follows and shows to other people. This value was very
important to some people those days because it was respectful and not rude. Also you don’t want
to ebarrass yourself in front of others, so if you want respect you must show respect.
The other value of the story was Trust. If you have trust then that means other people can
rely on you. Like Odysseus the men trusted him because he was going to bring them back
home. Also to listen to whom is right before something wrong happens to you, and to do
what is right. To gain trust you must have loyalty and respect and you must show and tell
your people so they may trust you. Like in the story the men followed Odysseus because
he was the leader and they trusted him.
Another value is loyalty. To be loyal you have to be a good person and do good stuff.
To be loyal you must show respect to one another and to have trust. Also being loyal is to not
doing bad things and picking wrong things up.Like Penelope while Odysseus left through all that
time she never slept with another because she was being loyal to Odysseus.
In this story it described some values like Respect, Loyalty, and Trust, it could be shown
in other kinds of different books part of the world these days. Today we can find and
notice these kinds of values in people. These values influences people to know how to
treat others and things. The influences of Greek culture on modern places/people have values in
them.
